Now Canseco attacks Miggy

The Canseco story gets stranger and stranger. In this mostly complementary story about Miguel Tejada Canseco says although he has no first hand knowledge, he thinks Miggy's pumped up body came from steroids. Like Bonds said, "You better come with more than that." I love Miguel Tejada, and I don't think he used steroids. Even if he did, do we really need to out people right now? Questioning all the guys with power? I read that Canseco sold his World Series ring for $40 grand. This sounds like a dude who has substance abuse problems of his own. I understand Canseco feels like an outcast, like he never fit in, and now he for some reason, maybe only money, wants to bring down everyone. Maybe he is mad because he is a lock to not make the Hall of Fame. He's never going to get to the magic 500 HR plateau. The thing he is most famous for is a ball bouncing off his head for a home run. That's probably a tough legacy to live with.

I think the new policy will work if we give it time, and there will still be cheaters and it will be an arms race between the cheaters/drug makers and the testers. But I think it is time to let the past be the past and move on. Certainly after this no one is going to want to get caught with anything illegal in their system. When we catch someone testing positive then I'll find some outrage over all this doping stuff. Right now it is just crap. Let's play ball.

Bill King through 2007

It should come as no surprise that the A's have given Bill King a two-year contract extension . I'm sure I don't need to tell you that Bill is one of the best in the game, and it's good to see that the A's appreciate him. He is getting old, and could retire at any time (though unless the schedule is revamped so the A's play 20 games in Arlington, this is probably unlikely), so tune in while you still can to hear one of the best baseball announcers of all time.
